The importance of the topic of this monograph is underlined by the increasing international mobility of students and more intense competition between host countries. Traditional educational centres, especially across the European Union, are losing their share of the international educational services market. The impact of geopolitical factors on the international mobility of students is also increasing, especially in the context of fierce competition for human capital.
Key trends and patterns of international migrant flows to and from Ukraine

The number of international migrants worldwide has already surpassed the U.S. population and turned international migration into one of the defining challenges of the 21st century, especially in light of recent ‘migrant crisis’ in the EU. Ukraine ranks 7th and 13th in the world in international emigrant and immigrant stock, respectively. Also, Ukraine contributes to the largest migration corridor in South-South pathway and the second largest migration corridor in the world. One of the distinctive features of Ukraine as an origin (destination) country is its relatively low diversification of flows of emigrants (immigrants) by their destination (origin). Remittance flows to and from Ukraine are also concentrated on a small number of origin and destination countries (regions). Annual inward remittances received by the country reached 5% of GDP and outweighed annual inward FDI and ODA combined (2013). This paper analyses key patterns and trends of international migrant flows to and from Ukraine, its determinants and impact on social and economic development of the country. Inward remittances are a very important source of financing for development. However, country specific as well as general ‘push and pull’ factors may significantly influence the stock of international migrants and remittance flows to and from Ukraine in the nearest future. Therefore, some suggestions for mitigating risks and exploring opportunities, related to international migrant flows to and from Ukraine, are provided, e.g. to promote official remittance channels, mobilize diaspora savings, stimulate saving and investment of remitted income, improve working conditions of labour emigrants.
The impact of reputational risks on investment activity

Despite economic jitters and slow growth worldwide, international financial markets have been gradually rebounding from the global financial crisis of 2007-2008, driving investment and development. However, market imperfections, as well as a range of unfavourable fundamentals, may constrain the access of some countries,industries and firms to external financing, influencing their investment spending and growth.The dynamic business environment, information asymmetry, volatility of exogenousdeterminants and endogenous transformations contribute to the uncertainty and its impact on investment. Reputation of investment stakeholders provides valuable guidelines for the investment decisions under uncertainty, and proper management of reputational risks eliminates investors’ exposure to numerous related risks. However, available approaches to the evaluation and management of reputational capital and risks require further elaboration, incl. within the framework of investment development strategy of a country. The authors suggest the definition of both reputational capital and reputational risks, analyse the impact of reputational risks on investment activity, incl. the impact of sovereign reputational risks on the investment attractiveness and relevant flows.
The role of international migrant remittances in countries` development

The amount of annual inward remittances worldwide reached US$557.1 billion in 2013. Inflows of international migrant remittances exceed annual inward ODA, FDI, and private capital flows in the majority of developing countries. Annual inflows of remittances in Ukraine reached 5% of GDP in 2013 and outweighed annual inward FDI and ODA combined. This paper analyses key patterns and trends of international migrant remittance flows from and to Ukraine, their determinants and impact on social and economic development of the country.
Theoretical basis of educational tourism: international aspect

International educational mobility plays a crucial role in the advancement of science and education, with far-reaching implications for socio-economic development. The growing number of internationally mobile students intensifies competition among host countries, which goes beyond the market for educational services. In the long run, it is the competition for human capital that is crucial for economic development. This study aims to deepen the understanding of educational tourism as a distinct form of educational mobility. The article reviews the literature and analyses existing approaches to the definition of educational tourism. By analysing different types of educational mobility, the paper proposes a classification based on the goals, age of travellers and stages of career development that better emphasises the unique features of educational tourism. Taking into account the interdisciplinary nature of educational tourism, the paper considers it within the framework of the concept that the authors call "MET: Mobility, Education, Tourism". This approach allowed the authors to propose a definition of educational tourism that better reflects the nature of this phenomenon and distinguishes it from other types of educational mobility. The authors have identified key factors that influence the development of educational tourism, including technological progress, globalisation of education, economic factors, government initiatives, educational innovations and current trends in the labour market. Based on the findings, this paper offers principles for promoting educational tourism, emphasising the concept of Tourist Lifetime Value (TLV). This approach takes a long-term view of educational travel, taking into account the potential for lifelong learning and repeat visits. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of educational tourism, providing a basis for developing effective strategies to stimulate its growth and enhance its positive socio-economic impact on both host and home countries.
