Abstract
The effect of prokaryotic and eukaryotic inductors on the antifungal activity of surfactants produced by Acinetobacter calcoaceticus IMV B-7241 on purified and crude glycerol was studied. The addition of cells or supernatant of Saccharomyces cerevisiae BTM-1 and Bacillus subtilis BT-2 increased surfactant activity against Candida tropicalis PE-2 and Candida albicans D-6, with the most pronounced effect observed for S. cerevisiae. The results confirm the potential of biological inductors, particularly heat-inactivated cells, for regulating the antifungal activity of microbial surfactants.
