Development of Ukrainian e-commerce: risks and new opportunities

Abstract

This paper examines the current state of the e-commerce market in Ukraine, identifies the major risks affecting its development, and analyzes the impact of digital transformation, technological innovation, and military-related challenges on business performance. Particular attention is paid to logistics disruptions, labor shortages, cybersecurity threats, increasing competition, and the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies as key factors shaping the sector's resilience and competitiveness. The study concludes that sustainable development of Ukrainian e-commerce requires comprehensive risk management, technological modernization, enhanced digital competencies, and the implementation of adaptive business models capable of responding to a rapidly changing external environment.У статті досліджено сучасний стан ринку електронної комерції в Україні, визначено основні ризики його розвитку та проаналізовано вплив цифрової трансформації, технологічних інновацій і воєнних викликів на діяльність підприємств. Особливу увагу приділено логістичним ризикам, дефіциту трудових ресурсів, кіберзагрозам, посиленню конкуренції та впровадженню технологій штучного інтелекту як ключових чинників забезпечення стійкості й конкурентоспроможності сектору. Обґрунтовано, що сталий розвиток електронної комерції в Україні потребує комплексного управління ризиками, технологічної модернізації, розвитку цифрових компетентностей і впровадження адаптивних бізнес-моделей, здатних ефективно функціонувати в умовах нестабільного зовнішнього середовища.
