The synergy between lean six sigma and information technology in the dairy industry

Abstract

This paper demonstrates the benefits of integrating the Lean Six Sigma (LSS) concept with information technology in the dairy processing industry. It examines the specific challenges facing the sector, including the perishable nature of raw materials, high energy consumption and variability in quality indicators. Based on an analysis of current research and empirical case studies, it is demonstrated that the synergy between LSS and Industry 4.0 technologies, such as the Internet of Things, big data analytics, digital twins, automation and cloud computing, enables the creation of a powerful mechanism for improving the efficiency, quality and sustainability of production. The study identifies key implementation strategies and discusses the opportunities and barriers associated with the adoption of integrated LSS and Industry 4.0 approaches in dairy manufacturing enterprises.

У роботі продемонстровано переваги інтеграції концепції Lean Six Sigma (LSS) з інформаційними технологіями у молокопереробній промисловості. Розглянуто специфічні виклики, з якими стикається галузь, зокрема швидкопсувність сировини, високу енергоємність та варіабельність показників якості. На основі аналізу сучасних досліджень та емпіричних прикладів показано, що синергія між LSS та технологіями Індустрії 4.0, такими як Інтернет речей, аналітика великих даних, цифрові двійники, автоматизація та хмарні обчислення, дає змогу створити потужний механізм підвищення ефективності, якості та стійкості виробництва. Визначено ключові стратегії впровадження та розглянуто можливості й бар'єри, пов'язані з впровадженням інтегрованих підходів LSS та Індустрії 4.0 на підприємствах молочної промисловості.
