Документ Specifications of Free Verse Writing in Lesja Ukrajinka’s Heritage(2021) Naumenko, NataliiaThe article gives an analysis of several poems taken from Lesja Ukrajinka’s nature philosophical verses written in the free form. What became the initials for this research was the nature of free verse, which would allow determining the specifications of generic and stylistic diffusion in works of a certain poet and observe formation of an individual vision of the world, thereby reflected in re-interpreted initials of folklore verse. The objectives of this work are to establish the formal and substantial features of free verse writing in the poetic works by Lesja Ukrajinka upon studying three most famous free verses (“Fragments from the Letter,” “Ave Regina!”, and “Spring in Winter”). Concisely, there was concluded that the formal and substantial conceits of Lesja’s creativity, the choice of genre and versification order first, evidence her endeavor to return to initial artistic syncretism. Particularly, her free verse, upon combining the prosodic systems dominant in Modernist literary process in Ukraine, appears to be the successor of preliminary versification traditions (folk duma verse) and, at the same time, the founder of those new. It is the factor that defines the special imagery of free verse works, including various lexical massifs (exotic, colloquial, or dialect words), artistic and scientific terms, and composition of a verse as a narration with profound philosophical content.Документ Onomatopoeias of contemporary Ukrainian poetry in the aspect of artistic synthesis(2020) Naumenko, NataliiaThe associative conceits, evoked by a concrete image in an author, a reader, or a speaker of a free-verse lyrical work, often get divergent, bearing a resemblance to the complicated system of concentric circles. However, they would converge on the certain level of perception, owing to the fact that the coincidences of associative fields are able to reveal the archetypal content of initial images. Therefore, the artistic imagery of a poetic work synthesizes the visual and audible component in its intonation dimension. This will significantly enlarge the volume of esthetic information, together with the speaker’s emotional attitude which is able to suggest an image expressed in a poem to a reader. An Endeavor of Freedom: Modern Anthologies of Ukrainian Free Verse(2018) Naumenko, NataliiaThe main problem of researching the semantics of free verse and its translations is that every literary critic is free to look at this intricate genre, choosing one’s own set of tropes and figures to interpret it in written form. These facts were considered in this study of original Ukrainian free verse works and their interpretations, regarding the specific treats of languages to use. The anthology Вільний вітер. Волен вятър published in Kharkiv in 2017 became a material for this research. This issue makes a good opportunity for one reader to get acquainted with Bulgarian culture, and for another to actualize their knowledge about this country on Black Sea coast. The 20th century free verse writing represents quite active and flexible use of natural philosophical imagery in the artistic texture of the poems. These are different functions for it to fulfill (from decorating the lyrical narration up to expression of an essence of the work), stylistic means, and formation of the new connotations on the base of traditional meanings. Studying the interpretations of traditional genres and their poetics in compositional and lingual dimensions of both Ukrainian and Bulgarian free verses (those included into Вільний вітер) allowed seeing the fact: the more the author gets into the internal world of the character and one’s relationships with nature, the wider becomes the circle of meanings for the cultural conceit, image, and symbol. Furthermore, the larger research field gets opened for comparison of aforesaid meanings in various languages, not only Ukrainian and Bulgarian.Документ Fantastic Binomial, the Conceptual Image-making Method for Contemporary Free Verse(2010) Naumenko, NataliiaMetaphor as one of the conceptual tropes got a lot of subordinate conceits for its description throughout all the literary history. In the 20th century, one of them was thoroughly formulated in Gianni Rodari’s Grammar of Fantasy (La Grammatica della Fantasia) as a fantastic binomial, a clause which contains a noun and a verb (or an adjective) that a priori are not tied with logical ties and further set up a base for a fairy-tale story. This is the main difference of a fantastic binomial from a usual metaphor. In this paper, we confirmed the mentioned kind of metaphor as a conceptual image-making way in contemporary Ukrainian free verse.
