Abstract
Marianne Moore’s poem “The Student” reflects Emersonian idea of “self-reliance” in the poem’s defense of the process of individuation of American students in pursuit of their education.

Description
We will become real students and get real knowledge throughout all our lives. When we come from undergraduates to students, we will have “not opinions, just knowledge.” Thus, the process of individuation is a life-long process. – The older we are, the more knowledge we get; the more knowledge we get, the greater individuals we are.
Ми станемо справжніми студентами та отримуватимемо справжні знання протягом усього життя. Коли ми перейдемо від студентів до студентів, у нас будуть «не думки, а лише знання». Таким чином, процес індивідуалізації – це процес, що триває все життя. – Чим старшими ми стаємо, тим більше знань отримуємо; чим більше знань ми отримуємо, тим кращими особистостями ми є.
